Windows Vista. Just about had enough. Sorry.

Vista has issues - we all know that because as is often said by the less troll like of so called 'power' users, no operating system is perfect. So, I won't bore you with the frequent problems I run into with Vista and how frankly, it manages to make me feel like a 3rd wheel to the fancy new laptop I just splashed out on.

Now I can deal with less than user friendly aspects of Windows - if nothing else it presents a challenge and to that effect I am more than willing to boast about how with regard to the UI and general ease of use Vista was a substantial upgrade from XP (especially I find with regard to networking, something I am blissfully ignorant about for the most part!) - But, what I can't accept is why Windows is so ridiculously unhelpful when it decides to go wrong by itself.

Recently I've been getting about one completely random BSOD per day, and I don't think I have to explain to anyone how frustrating and actually hazardous that is with regard to loosing work. I'll be casually typing or surfing away and off it goes springing into 800x640 with presenting some incomprehensible information before promoting restarting leaving enough time to feel the first signs of windows-rage.

Why why WHY can't I can get something more helpful from you windows instead acting like a complete juvenile and telling me that its recovered from a serious error, as if I should commend the system and this point and break out the cookies and milk.

...I'm not even going to write any more. You've read it all before...I don't think I'll live out Vista to see Windows 7. It's hammer mac time.

I feel with your Windows rage. Won't be a hater or a fanboy, I'll just say that I've never looked back since abandoning Windows for the fruity alternative. It's definitely worth the extra cash.

Networking is not really an upgrade. If anything, it's worse. I have a small home network with one XP box acting as an Internet proxy server, and the shiny new Vista laptop has problems with restoring the connection, each time I turn it on.

I actually have a borrowed 20" iMac here, and it's gorgeous. Definitely totally worth it.

I have given up. Vista regularly eats itself and the network issues have to do with it not liking dhcp and it's bloated security package. Windows to me is finally dying the long death. One word will make your life less of hell, your computer's cpu finally work as fast as it says it does on the packet, installs completely in less than an hour, and just plain work...
