Developer Certifications

Posted Sunday 20th January 2008 under Web & Web Design

Just been looking around at the different certifications etc that you can get related to web design/html/css/php etc and deciding whether if any were worth doing. I'm not really looking to progress into a carrier in web development or take it any further than an odd hobby or some occasional freelance so it wouldn't help me too much to have them but I figure it might be worth while to have on the CV right?

Seems W3Schools have a combined HTML/XHTML/CSS test available to do online for around £30. Would be simple enough to find a supervisor to do it but the actual test just seems far too basic, the practice/example "quizzes" they have up really are beginner material which makes me think it's perhaps not worth doing.

The Zend PHP 5 Certification looks great to have, but it's a little pricey considering I would only be doing it just to have and if I'm honest a few of the sample questions I have encountered seem a little above me without some reading up!

I think I'll consider doing something in the future, but now...I need to get back to getting through College hah! (Sunday evening Law essays - score)
